INCARCERATED BUT NOT IN JAIL by Randy Smith

INCARCERATED BUT NOT IN JAIL
by Randy Smith

This poem is for those who
Are INCARCERATED behind bars BUT NOT IN JAIL

These words were written to set free
Those who are daily tormented in their mind
Bombarded by the pressures of not swinging on someone
When they piss them off

Being a role model to their children
Working everyday just to live check to check
And trying to remain sane in an insane society
YOU’RE INCARCERATED BUT NOT IN JAIL

This is for those who stay at jobs
When they are ridiculed and feeling unappreciated
Just to provide for their children
Long hours and Low pay
YOU’RE INCARCERATED BUT NOT IN JAIL

This is for the women who have been raped or molested
Some of you have let go of that anger
I commend you
But for those who haven’t still lost, still angry
Heart pumps hate
And causes you to perform certain acts
Just to feel adequate at that very moment
YOU’RE INCARCERATED BUT NOT IN JAIL

This is for those who been INCARCERATED
Who come home and want to do better
And be better but don’t have the chance too
Because the felony they have to check YES to
On an application, because most places do background checks

And that causes them to revert back to the STREETS
And to that forever revolving door
That so many minorities face....daily....JAIL
And these words I wrote and now I speak
Are for hope for those who are
INCARCERATED BUT NOT IN JAIL

That eventually in your mind
YOU WILL BE FREE!
Keep trying

BE EASY
