Originally when I was invited to interview Cubana Lust and Ms. LaStarya, I rolled my eyes and thought, "Great, two more video hoes." As the entire crew waited for more thank two hours for their arrival I wondered if they would fit the usual stereotypes given to celebrities. When they finally arrived, it turns out that they had been lost, they proved me completely wrong. These two young ladies shared with me the tips and secrets of the trade, their future plans, and advice for young ladies in the industry.
Theory: How did you break into modeling?
Cubana: I knew I always wanted to model, but wasn't built for 'anorexic' runway.
LaStarya: I kept hearing it- So, I did my first video with Lil Wayne. 'Get somthing,' you can watch it on YouTube. I then went on to do more videos and began working with professional photographers.
Theory: What type of example do you feel like you are setting for young girls?
Cubana: I don't set an example for traditional families, but for that independent person trying to make it on their own.
Theory: But, don't you feel like you are exploiting yourself?
LaStarya: Basically, only God can judge me.
Cubana: I do what I gotta do- if you don't like it keep it moving. In Cuba they celebrate the body, the body it beautiful.
Theory: So, what are your goals and plans for the future?
Cubana: I love my life and my family. I am living my dream. I am a top model in my industry. I hope to start a clothing line, maybe some acting. NO PORN!
LaStarya: I want to go places, see things. I want to have a family. I want to be with my significant other for 50 years. I believe that if you work with each other you can stick together. I want to own a hair salon/restaurant/shake-joint.
Theory: What advice would you give to girls trying to break into the industry?
Cubana: Turn it into an art- the body is artistic and creative. Make people love you for what you are doing. I wanted to do this, I make smart choices on my own and avoid getting caught up.
LaStarya: Don't give in when men say, 'I got you.' Don't be a hoe and a model. 'F' that extra, toss it in the trash.
These young ladies proved to me that they are so much more than the rear ends that have made them famous, which I might add don't feel fake to me. They are so down to earth and certainly know how to laugh, it was like hanging out with old friends. I had a chance to spend a night on the town with them and we came across all sorts of fans and haters, these two showed me perfect examples of how to keep your cool in uncomfortable situations.
From teaching me make-up tips and how to handle fans, Cubana Lust and Ms. LaStarya certainly impacted my life and career. To see some of what made them famous click here and here.
I HOPE THESE TWO CAN WORK THROUGH THEIR DIFFERENCES. LOVE YOU GIRLS!
