2009 BET Music Awards- Where should I start?

I should have taken notes so that I could highlight each jaw dropping moment that I observed.

LORD HAVE MERCY! 

After all the commercials that had me cracking up. This was the funniest moment of the night.

I can say that New Edition definitely danced their butts off, but did the exact same number that they did in a PREVIOUS Michael Tribute a few years ago. Yes, Bobby was there, but why is that huge news to us all. This is not the 80's and he is definitely going to take any chance he gets to be on TV or on stage- Its not a big surprise any more. 

Why did we see the same people repeatedly? I mean over and over and over. Ok, I am the 1st one to go crazy about my man Jamie Foxx, but was it the Jamie Foxx show or the BET Awards. OVER KILL! Only on BET can you host and be in every other performance. GHETTO. However, the Travis Barker bit was on point. 

Did all the important people miss rehearsal? Why didn't anyone know when they were coming on stage next, WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CUEING THEM? Does BET need an AD? I was the assistant director in my freshman year of High School for Guys and Dolls no one missed their cue- especially on the night of the show. It was at times uncomfortable to watch because it was just that painful to see a network that has been established since 1980 produce this unprofessional mess! Someone told me that "we could have pulled 30 people out of the hood and done a better tribute." BET has produced this particular show since 2001, and y'all are still looking like public access? I don't know maybe its harder than I think. But when you do better you get better. How can you expect our real Black Star Power to support you when you are producing mess like this? You embarrassed Alicia Keys and Wyclef (both were honored for Humanitarian Awards)... the list of confused folks goes on and on. 

 

By the way- WHOSE IDEA WAS IT TO DROP THE FEATHERS ON MAXWELL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SHOW? AND FOR LIKE 2 whole minutes?

Keri Hilson had a cute performance and her star studded dress was to die for. I was just a little "turned off" by her decision to sing accapella after a wonderful ending!

I did also very much enjoy Mary Mary ft Queen Latifah. HANDS DOWN, THE QUEEN REPRESENTED and was by far the best performance of the night!

It was also great to see Monica in rare form. When is she making a comeback? I am still rocking "Every time the beat drop."

Drake should have stayed off the stage if he was hurt. Lil Wayne should be ashamed at the message he is sending to his own daughter. Furthermore, her mother Toya is equally accountable. THIS AIR SPACE COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER USED. Drake has no deal because he has no stage presence. Sorry- hot songs, hot mix tape, no stage presence I SAW HIM MYSELF LIVE in New Haven. I was extremely disappointed.

Could have also done with out Jay-Z. By the way... didn't Beyonce know when her husband was performing? Why did she look at Jamie Foxx like he was a crack head when he held her arm to escort her off the stage?

I will say, it was extremely touching when Ms. Jackson if your Nasty spoke on behalf of her family. She looked lovely and kept it short and sweet.

I was also sick and tired of hearing all night that they were paying tribute to The King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I would have felt better if they had a photo slide show at the end, than the mess that they threw together. I really hope they do not think they did right by him. They should have left it alone unless they were fully prepared. They definitely dropped the ball. I would have felt better if they just left it for a future date. I was waiting all night for the tribute. Ciara, Jamie, and Ne-yo left me saying- "WAS THAT IT?" Where was Chris Brown and Usher?I dunno in the show biz I thought 3 days was a lot of time. Those 90's groups that Ne-yo brought out could not have pulled off an MJ song or two?

Beyonce- too much. I hate that she took a beautiful, classic, ceremonial song- Ave Maria and secularized it. Really, I mean really who does she think she is?  Here are the words to Ave Maria in English... maybe the words are familiar to some.

Hail Mary,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Amen.

But people have a nerve to talk about Madonna? WOW! Beyonce took it wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too far with this one. 

My final Theory: The show dragged on and on, and kept getting worse. BET I expected so much more, but the amazing thing is... you still have another chance to get it right next year.
