F. Luis Mora at the Mattatuck Museum

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Opening Reception for the F. Luis Mora Exibit at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT. A dose of culture that was long over due. I had almost forgotten the sound of the Grand Piano resinating throughout the gallery, but I was instantly taken back to the countless hours I spent volunteering in this marvelous establishment.
The art was breathtaking. Mora used his canvas not only to express beauty with color and technique, but he managed to capture the emotion in the moment. The paintings appeared as if they were photographs and not oil on canvas paintings.

His works will continue to be on display at the Mattatuck Museum until February 7, 2010. To learn more about F. Luis Mora please click here.

My final Theory: This was an evening to remember. Amazing Art. Amazing Food. Great company. Thank you Marie for the invitation.

Who's Your Daddy Video Shoot Day #2

So, for all you Mook N Fair fans and haters... yesterday the duo wrapped up on set at the Smooth Magazine studios in NYC for the OFFICIAL video for "Who's Your Daddy."

Now, I missed the 1st day of shooting, but from everything I put together this is going to be one hilarious video. I would say you can expect to see your boys reenacting familiar scenes that will leave you in stitches and loving the song even more.

The biggest shout out to Bruce aka Biggie 1 for providing us with the most memorable cameo of the year.

Of course, DJ Webstar was in the building enjoying some DZIAQ Liquer, which I was hoping to get a whiff of all night. Keep your eyes peeled for DZIAQ Liquer's music video debut! I'm going to have to get them to sponsor me, lol.

As always, Mook N Fair and their manager Chris Fury showed me so much love. I have a whole new appreciation for music video's and an even bigger respect for my boys. I can't wait until next years BET awards... lets be sure to get them nominated!

Download Who's Your Daddy here.

Watch Who's Your Daddy, I taped this performance at their Signing Party.

How do you destroy failure?

Lately I have been going back and forth with myself. I am 27 and no where near the success I had planned for myself. No where near the dreams and goals that I have set for myself. Even the other day during one of my moments of deep thought and self analyzation I thought, 'Damn, your a loser.'

I began to realize that if my life was placed under a microscope... it would slowly start to frey and that I will be exposed as a fraud. I am not as happy as I appear to be all the time, I make hypocritical statements, I never finish anything that I start, I have a wonderful way with words that seems to get me off the hook for the peculiar situations that I find myself in that could probaly be classified as lieing if you really picked it apart. I am wondering if I am on the way to failure.

I cannot help but consider facts that may be on the brink of reality: what will my life be like if I really don't start getting booked regularly, and what if my blog never gets any consistant advertising,  and where will I go if I don't get accepted into The New School, what if I am just driving up to Storrs for FREE every week for a career in radio that will never happen.

Thinking of failure and the possibilities of it does not keep me awake at night, but it does occasionally fill my thoughts throught the day. I must admit that I was beginning to slip into a bit of a funk until I came across an email today that I had been saving since december. I could not have opened it at a more appropriate time.

Theory: How do you destroy failure?
The Allen Boy: You replace it. The only failure is to quit.

About 10 minutes after I read this email Tomiko Fraser-Hines posted this and affirmed the message: In spite of your own perceived shortcomings, you are STILL destined for greatness. You are here on purpose. Come from behind fear & just BE!

This is when I realized  FAILURE = FEAR.  If I am worried about failure then I am afraid. So here's to looking at fear in the rearview.

You know what? I am not being stagnant. I am not waiting on things to happen, I am making them happen. I am not looking for an opprotunity, I am creating one. I say something and then do it. I have to work harder on ignoring the Haters. I can no longer doubt myself, or the promises that God has made me. I have to work harder to tell people about love. I have to start LOVE. My goals and dreams are coming true, RIGHT NOW... they had to start somewhere. I also realized, that under a microscope... everything is ugly, everyone has faults but the key is recognizing them, working on them, and then figuring out how to make them work for you.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy Dinner out without going BROKE!

My recession proof tip of the day: Have you noticed that everytime you go out to dinner you end up bringing left overs home with you that ends up in the back of your fridge for weeks? Maybe you have stopped dining out because you just can't swing the bill. Here is a simple solution. Try SHARING a meal! Find an entree that you and your mate can agree on, then SHARE! Think there won't be enough food? Order an extra side. My best friend and I cut our dinner tab in half, which leaves us extra cash to catch a movie or grab a drink.

Eating Alone? Try the children's menu.

Also, places like TGIFridays have "loyalty" card. Signing up for the card allows you VIP access to coupons and special offers. Went there recently with 3 adults and one child... the bill was only $40.

Alicia Keys says it "Doesn't mean anything" Hear it HERE 1st.

So excited that Ms. Keys announced that she is dropping her new album in December, she has not released the name. Now, I do like her new song. I think its going to have to grow on me. It is full of meaning, but its too sorrowful sounding to me. Maybe I'm not in the mood for this song right now... and I am not counting it out. I am sure once I hear it on the radio 100 times I will be singing along with it.

I can not wait until December, I love the fact that she never leaves her fans waiting too long... I am still rocking As I am. Looking forward Alicia. I know you are going to bring your A game, lol.

So is it ok when he says "NIGGER?" TROY DALE WEST BEATS BLACK WOMAN IN GEORGIA!

I'm so sick and tired of people telling me that we live in a post racial society. I'm fed up of people being able to get away with things like this. If another person tells me that racism doesn't exist, I'm going to scream! We have a freaking African American/Caucasian President and this is happening! WTF! Why are we so concerned with people that are thousands of miles away when there are terrorists walking on US soil daily. I simply cannot comprehend why the news is reporting this as a "Possible Hate Crime." Possible? It is obvious. There is no question about it. If he said "Nigger" even once, it's a freaking hate crime. One YouTube Subscriber states that any crime against another person is a hate crime... I have to agree. This sucker needs to go DOWN! The US Attorney General needs to go after his good for nothing ass. I'm sure his wife will come forward one day and talk about how he beat her. Maybe this event happened to save her life. There is no question that this man should never see the light of day outside of a prison. Troy Dale West, Jr is a threat to national security. BY THE FREAKING WAY... This woman is a member of the US ARMY... TROY DALE WEST, JR NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT UP ON FEDERAL CHARGES!

Think of the trauma that Tashawnea Hill's 7 year old daughter had to face. We have to pray for her strength. I hope through all of this that the African American community will start to realize how serious the word "Nigger" really is, and that it is STILL A RACIAL SLUR! I don't care what they try to make you believe. People are STILL fighting not to be called one.

DO NOT BUY INTO THE HYPE! I bet if it wasn't a part of anyone's regular vocabulary it would be very clear that when he called her "NIGGER" that he was being a hateful son of a bitch. These are the times that we need to forget about skin color and focus on bigger issues like the SWINE FLU or HOMELESSNESS and yet people like Troy Dale West, Jr makes it almost impossible.

Kanye Says Sorry. But is it too late?

What do you think?
I personally think he was out of line and knows it. He had to see himself on TV to realize what a fool he made of himself. How can I keep defending him when he does some shit like this. That is why you have a blog... to express your free opinon. This is why you make records... to say what ever you want which for the most part I agree, but tonight. Tonight was a whole different animal. Not throwing away my I LOVE KANYE sign yet... but he hurt my feelings and I was just watching on TV, I cannot imagine how Taylor felt.

UPDATE:: Video of our guy going OFF backstage... He is a sore loser, but I can understand his disdain with MTV. But when he acts like this... the African American community loses on ALL LEVELS!

THANKS DJ MAESTRO!

Yes, we all want to know where Annie Le is, but what about Josephine?

Josephine Spinnato Missing from Hartford
Nationwide we have been hearing stories about the missing 24 year old grad student from Yale, Annie Le. Ranking high as one of the top stories, we are all praying for her safe return. I honestly do believe that if she is alive, she is in danger. When Annie's story first broke News Channel 8 (WTNH) also mentioned a story about Josephine Spinnato, a 15 year old girl missing from The Gray Lodge School in Hartford. According to WTNH.com the girl is know to run away to New Haven, and is not know to be a threat to herself or others.

HELLO!!! What about the others that are a threat to her? Why are missing children who are the most vulnerable and the most at risk ignored? Lets take for example a recent missing child who was recovered 18 years later, Jaycee Lee Dugard. A clear example of how at risk our children are in America, and our focus is on people over seas. There are terrorist 10 times more likely to attack living in right next door to us, and in many cases our own homes.

UPDATE::: The body of Annie Le has been found. Let's pray we find Josephine alive.

DOJ- Death of Jay-Z RIP on Sept. 11th, 2009

So I logged on to MySpace and saw that my boy Young 6ixx posted about 15,000 times that he had a new track for mix tape DJ's- that I am not. I listened to the song anyway aaaannnnnnndddddd I can see where he is coming from. I never did like DOA. Jay-Z is entitled to his opinion... so is everyone else, I am with 6ixx on this one. I can see where he is coming from in actuality Jay was dissin the trends and style of the younger generation, which he has been doing for years.. 6ixx took it personal and decided to respond, I liked it.

***Now, I have gotten several comments about this track. Someone even calling him out about dissing Jay because he got his name from Jay- Mr. 1 of 1. Now we will have to speak to Young Sixx and ask him about that. Some say that he is just doing it for the buzz, I will ask him about that too.

The question is...does Young 6ixx have the right to diss one of the most influential rappers of all time not only in the US,internationally? He has been a ground breaker in the indistry. He has set such a positive example for the Hip-Hop industry and has turned his life around. For godsakes, he's in next months issue of O- The Oprah Magazine.

My answer... "YES!" for years Jay-Z has been dissing the younger generation and has gone mostly unscathed. Because of Jay-Z's talent his major audience, 20something's,  has ignored these shots to the chest. If Jay-Z can say 30 is the new 20, what does that make those of us in our 20's? Now I will say that some of us in our 20's could really take his advise and quit it with the skinny jeans because some people are just taking it too far. In addition, you do have to be careful who you start a beef with, especially when you are on the come up. I mean in actuallity we are talking about someone who has at some point met with or worked with every record executive in the music and entertainment industry. I suppose it's like my mother said, "Choose your battles wisely."

What do you think?

A Party to Remember for NBA Player Ryan Gomes

NBA Player, Ryan Gomes, of the Minnesota Timberwolves celebrated his birthday/going away this past Sunday at Sin City in Waterbury, CT with friends, family, and fans to raise funds for his charity Hoops for Heart Health.

For weeks before the party there was a buzz, which led me to have high expectations. It was announced that special guests HeadRush and NBA Players would be in the building. Well, Rush was there and Ryan was there . . . so it was true.

You know I love it when a party starts on time. Doors opened at 9 and people continued to pour in all night. The dance floor and the VIP were packed. All night long it was a party full of love and cheer until ... dunn dunnn dunnnnnnn . . . a "Rapper," who I can't even find on MySpace, ruined the festivities. BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Now, right before he decided to ruin the party, I observed the said "Rapper" dancing like lunatic. It was evident he and his crew were quite saucy. So the said "Rapper" debowed the microphone from another unnamed rapper. Once he had the microphone it was obvious that a problem was not far away. When the owner of the microphone asked for it back, the said "Rapper" started wilding out and broke the microphone. Now, I am not sure how the remainder of this incident took place, there was security everywhere. The security just let this clearly drunk person walk right on the stage and straight up to the DJ,  but made me, a person with an official NightLifeLink.com shirt have to pull out my press pass. SERIOUSLY?

So this dude walks up to the DJ and starts harrassing everyone in the booth, trying to pick a fight over a microphone that was not his at a party that he did not throw. Now I can say that I have heard of this "Rapper" and his less than perfect ways well before I even knew what he looked like. When I learned of the name associated with this "Rapper" I was not surprised at all by his actions. WHY WOULD YOU MESS WITH THE DJ, except to hate? Happy ending to this though. This "Rapper" was arrested and completly embarrassed, everyone now knows that he has man boobs. LMAO!

Good thing that this drama occured at the end of the night, and did not bring down the overall mood. Everyone but this guy was there to party. Ryan's wife Danielle put together a wonderful event.

Now, I heard through the grapvine that people were hating on the party saying things like it was just a Wilby Reunion... well it was and in my opinion a showcase of just how serious people that went Wilby are. I mean serious talent on all levels is coming out of Waterbury, CT and I just do not understand why so many people have to hate instead of joining the bandwagon of success.

A huge shout out to Erin from NightLifeLink.com he is responsible for all these photos and provided me with many laughs throughout the night! If you were there view your pictures here. Love these photos? Want NightLifeLink at your party? Click HERE, be sure tell them Theory told you to "Get Linked!"

Find out more about Hoops for Heart Health here.
My Final Theory: I can not wait to get my invitation to next years party. I know it's going to be 10 times better.
PICS WITH A FEW PALS, GREAT TIMES!

My Theory on "Run This Town" Jay-Z, Kanye, and Rihanna. Sue me, I'm Late.

Love the song. I freaking love this video. "Run this town" was directed by Anthony Mandler who is a genius, you can view his portfolio here. This video totally reminds me of California Love and it perfectly embodies the song in every aspect. There could not have been a more perfect translation.
My Final Theory: Well, isn't this one obvious?
